Celebrate NOON YEAR’S EVE with the Museum of Discovery

Has it been a while since you heard that iconic countdown on the final day of the year? If you’re a parent of small children, staying up late to ring in the New Year can be just plain unfeasible. Or maybe you long for a more family-friendly affair.

Well, don’t let the night owls have all the fun. Bring the kids out to the Museum of Discovery and join them as they ring in the “Noon Year” on Tuesday, Dec. 31.

They’ll have kid-friendly activities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and, of course, a whopping big countdown to the noon hour! This year, they will have several “balloon drops” throughout the museum to avoid overcrowding.

Noon Year’s Eve Countdown is included in regular museum admission for free for museum members.

Families with young children who cannot stay up late to ring in the New Year can ring in the “Noon Year” at the Museum of Discovery’s “Noon Year’s Eve” event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, December 31.
At “Noon Year’s Eve” families can make noisemakers, enjoy hands-on science activities and learn more about New Year’s traditions. The highlight, however, will be a countdown to noon featuring a large balloon drop.
“Our ‘Noon Year’s’ countdown allows families who might miss the big countdown to midnight due to early bedtimes to get in on the fun,” said Peggy Thibodeau, museum educator and event leader. “It really is the best of both worlds because you get to celebrate without losing any sleep, and you learn while doing so.”
“Noon Year’s Eve” is included in regular museum admission: $10 for adults; $8 for children 12 and under; $2 for SNAP benefits recipients; and free for museum members and children under 1. For more information, visit www.museumofdiscovery.org or call 501-396-7050.

Let’s face it, it can be difficult for parents to stay up until midnight to celebrate the New Year! And you probably don’t want the kids to stay up that late, either.

This year, the Museum of Discovery offers “Noon Year’s Countdown” today from 9am until 12 noon!

Join them from 9 a.m. to noon for some fun hands-on activities that include: party hat decorations, kazoo making, straw streamer creations, clock making, clock take-aparts, chain reactions and a museum-wide countdown to noon!

Ring in the New Year in style, family style at the Museum of Discovery!

And be honest, by this point, you are ready to get out of the house!
