May Science after Dark at Museum of Discovery – Science of Botany!

may2014 mod scienceThe April showers have brought May flowers.  And for some of us, the May flowers have brought seasonal onset allergies. Tonight at the Museum of Discovery, it is the monthly Science After Dark feature for adults.  This month explores the Science of Botany.

There will be information on pollinators, hops, gardening, agri technology and more. If you love gardening, flowers or locally-grown foods this one is not to be missed!

The program runs from 6pm to 8pm at the Museum of Discovery. It costs $5, but is free to Museum Members.  If you attend several of these a year as well as visit the museum once or twice, you MORE than make up your membership fee.

Summer is here, take your kids to the museum.  If you don’t have kids, borrow some from a friend, neighbor or relative — you’ll be their hero.  Or just go by yourself – the Museum of Discovery offers activities and exhibits designed to engage literally all ages.

Luck and Probability are on the bill for Science After Dark this month

4 cloversBecause of Spring Break travels on the last Wednesday of the month, this month the Museum of Discovery has moved their “Science After Dark” adults only event to the third Wednesday. This month, they explore “The Science of Luck and Probability.” (With brackets being filled out all over for basketball tournaments, as well as Oaklawn still in full swing, a discussion of luck and probability is HIGHLY timely.)

Push your luck at our monthly adult program, Science After Dark! What is the probability of winning the lottery? You’ll learn the equation along with other odds that are and aren’t in your favor. If you are a fan of math, gambling or are just plain unlucky, you are sure to have a great time at Science After Dark. It is a great chance to explore the museum’s exhibits and enjoy downtown Little Rock.

There will be a cash bar and pizza for sale by the slice from Damgoode Pies.

scienceafterdarkaugust13The Museum of Discovery’s monthly adults-only Science After Dark goes “Back to School” this month.

Tonight, Wednesday, August 28 from 6-8 p.m. the program is celebrating back to school with a trip to fifth grade. They will have some hands-on science activities that you’ll remember from elementary school along with a few other things you once learned but have probably since forgotten.

And because no back to school themed event would be complete without a homage to the cafeteria, there will be a signature drink called a hot tater toddy. We might even have a cafeteria lady serving up some grub.

Tickets are $5 or free for members. There will be a cash bar.
